The Savannah Cat is very young in its development but with time, patience and selective breeding we will develop the wild serval look in a domestic cat. It will take time to develop and refine the wild Serval look in the SBT Savannahs which are at least 4 generations SV to SV breeding making them a full Savannah. Along the way we will breed for you some amazing cats with amazing looks and temperaments. Savannah cats have a wonderful temperament, trusting and loyal companions. LEO'S DIARY Purebliss Leonardo Di Vinci (aka Leo) is a wonderful silver spotted Savannah boy owned by Richard and Carol Payne. Leo is a neutered/altered boy and has earned many merits in shows in both his kitten and adult life. Below is his diary showing the most up to date entry first. If you see him in show - go up and say hello - he would love to meet you! ********************************************** Hi Granma! I’ve been to a couple of shows since my last letter. My last but one show was very good. There was one other girl on Saturday (she got three ribbons & I got three ribbons). Sunday we were joined by another girl, and we all got two ribbons apiece! Everyone was pleased with the results. At the last show I was the only one there. I did get some nice comments though as to how Serval-like I was. One judge liked my black nose, another liked how I sniffed the air & a third liked my head shape. They all said my tail was too long! But it’s such a lovely tail. How can you have too much of a good thing? The Bengals don’t look as big as they used to. Khan is such a whoosy pussy! I love chasing him round the house until he gets annoyed – then I hide! Mummy yells as us to stop and then all hell breaks loose as everyone else wants to join in. Mattie & Velvet are also good chasers. Velvet does have a mean old swipe though. She does manage to land one now and again. After they have gone to bed I like to play chases with Jack & Harmony. Mummy calls it our Tom & Jerry time. (Who are Tom & Jerry anyway?) We can really get up speed going round the front room, then on the scratch post and then over the stair rails. It’s great fun! I got a scare again today. Mummy had a strange white thing on her head that looked like it was doing nasty things. I did not like it at all! So I fluffed up my tail at it and tried to scare it off Mummy just laughed at me and disappeared into the bedroom. When she came out again the white thing had gone but I thought I’d better check to see if her head was ok and it was. So I was happy that I had been able to protect Mummy from the evil white thing! When Daddy is concentrating on the small screens Jack & me & sometimes Velvet like to take it in turns to get behind him on the chair and try to push him off. We have not succeeded yet though. My favourite trick at the moment is to try and stop him leaving in the morning by getting on his shoulders and purring loudly in his ear, or by hanging onto his bag so he can’t take it with him. ‘Bye for now & take care, Granma! Hugs & licks from Leo. **************************************************************21 July '09 Hi Granma! I am very well and looking forward to seeing you at the next show. A very nice man – Uncle Laurie – came and looked after us while Mummy & Daddy were away. I think I must have upset him though, ‘cos he keeps on (and on!) about my attempt to get fed first when he came to look after us on that Friday. What happened was he disappeared into the kitchen and came out with all this food – plus a chicken wing. I naturally assumed the wing was for me but he started to go up stairs with it. I thought it was a new type of game, see, so I tried to get in front to grab the wing and kind of misjudged it and landed on him. Well, the lot went flying, didn't it? It went all over the stairs and up the wall. He spent a good 20 minutes (if not more) cleaning it all up again. When Mummy called to see if all was ok he tattle-tailed on me! All seems ok now – I think he has forgiven me (?) ‘cos he still fusses me when he comes round. Mummy did say I was to have a wing & I was just trying to claim my prize! He made sure that he didn’t carry any more bowls of food up stairs for the rest of that weekend. It went up still in the packets! We had some new window slats fitted on Sunday. They are really nice and don’t get in the way half as much as that thin netty stuff that was there before. Mummy told Auntie Teresa about my exploits over the show weekend & she thought it was funny too. So did Uncle Phil when he got to hear after he got back from getting some fish & chips with daddy. Will I ever live it down I ask? Anyway, who couldn’t forgive a sweet little thing like me, all full of purrs & cuddles? Hope to see you at the show. Give Auntie Katie & cousin Joseph lots of licks & purrs from me! Hugs, Leo ************************************************************* May '09 I am getting into all sorts of mischief. That Mystie (who I don’t like much as she is mean to me) has shown me how to open the bedroom door so she does have her uses. I also like creating havoc in the kitchen by jumping on the sides and knocking things off. It’s great fun to wake mummy up at four in the morning when I want a cuddle, then break into the bedroom when she’s gone back to bed and let in Harmony and Jack. It’s also good fun to stop daddy going out in the mornings when I want a hug and mummy too sometimes. I like chasing the Bengals as much as I like chasing Harmony and Jack. Now I’m bigger they don’t have their own way as much as they used to. I still don’t like the loud sucking machine. I have tried to kill it but it won’t die! Then I get all jumpy & scared until it goes away. I love getting a chicken wing. I guard it and growl at the others if they try and take it. I will carry it off to a secret location to eat if any of the others look like they might take it. Has Katey swollen tummy gone down yet? I think she must have at least a dozen kittens stowed away in there. Either that or it's a bad case of wind! Hugs & licks from Leo. **************************************
***************************************** Hi Jacky, I’m glad you liked Leo’s letter. He’s made great progress this week so I’ve persuaded him to write again: Hi Mummy! Has it just been 2 weeks. It feels like I’ve been here ages! I have been up to so much that it’s difficult to know where to start.
Harmony was kept separate from us in the front room all last week but now she shares the hall with us (that’s Jack & me & sometimes Honey). She can be moany still but she is coming round. I’ve had a trip out. Harmony came too. They took me to what looked like another house but when we went inside it had that strange clean smell to it. The human behind this counter thing cooed at me when new mummy held me up in my carry box so she could see me. Then we were called into another room where another human dressed in a green overall type thing was. Her name is Barbara. She saw Harmony first. Barbara got out this thin tube with that even thinner spike attached to it and gave this to Harmony. I felt sorry for her as I know what this is like & it isn’t a nice thing to do! Then she saw me & she got so excited to see me she called another human dressed in a blue overally thing. I remembered what you said & purred really loudly. So loud that they both cooed at me too! They said how cute I was. I thought Barbara was a bit grubby so I obliged by giving her a wash. She got out this instrument that is made up of a big disc and 2 tubes that fit into the ears and tried to listen to my chest. But I was still purring so she got this clear stuff out & put it on my nose. It smelt so strange I stopped purring for all of 3 seconds. She gave up after that and entered the details in her screen about me. I liked Barbara. They got that noisy machine out again. Oh, that is really so scary! The thin grey snake that’s attached to it tried to grab me and made me leap 3 feet into the air! I went & hid in the Bengals room until it stopped. New mummy was cleaning the Bengals room so I thought I would help. She looked like she needed a cuddle so I climbed on her shoulder & snuggled under her chin. You will be pleased to hear that we did get the room clean between us. They tell me I will see you soon. I’m looking forward to telling you all about my adventures myself so I hope this ‘weekend’ thing comes round quickly. **********************************************************
